Info:
The BMA presents two exhibitions on the work and influence of one of the most important African-American painters of the 20th century and the first to achieve international acclaim.
The second exhibition in the BMA’s series on Henry Ossawa Tanner features major paintings from the BMA's collection and the Des Moines Art Center that show the artist’s influence on 20th-century African-American painters such as Hale Woodruff, Horace Pippin, Haywood Bill Rivers, and Jacob Lawrence. These works will be accompanied by a selection of works on paper by African-American artists.
This exhibition is generously sponsored by the Museum Loan Network and M&T Bank.
Additional support is provided by the Henry Luce Foundation and Jackie and Freeman Hrabowski.
