On the first Friday of the month a collection of jazz musicians plays for two hours in the fabulous airy surroundings of the Rose Center. Regular bands include the Hilton Ruiz Quartet, the Vinicius Cantuaria Quintet, Randy Weston's African Rhythm's Quintet, the Steve Wilson Quartet and the Cecil Payne Quintet. In good cocktail hour style, a bar serves drinks and tapas.
The concerts are free, though we suggest you combine your drinking with a visit to the space show if you haven't done so before. The Rose Center is the space section of the American Museum of Natural History, which is located beside Central Park on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
