Name: Sports and Events Tourism Exchange Date: 22 – 24 October 2013 Venue: International Convention Centre Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Sports and Events Tourism Exchange, Exhibition and Conference
An event proven to be of international standing after the extremely successful shows held in Cape Town in 2011 and Durban in 2012, this “confex” will again focus on the world-class standard of facilities and services South Africa has to offer as a host for all top-level international events - sports, concerts, training camps and other.
Attend the informative 1 day conference with keynote addresses from both international and local leaders in the industry and visit the exhibition on Day 2&3 to meet with venue and stadium owners, mega-event organisers, sports federations, sport marketing and management companies, hotels and service providers.
The main intention of the conference is to provide a platform to exchange information and ideas that contribute to building and enhancing the sport tourism and event industries in South Africa. The conference programme includes panel discussions that will be anchored by keynote speakers who are specialists on their relevant fields. The key outcomes of the 2011 event saw the establishment of a steering committee, driven by Sports and Recreation SA, South African Tourism and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee. During the 2012 SETE Conference, a Sport Tourism strategy was adopted. The committee will explore the establishment of an events fund and pave the way forward for an effective communication plan to all stakeholders. This is a critical move in ensuring a coordinated strategic framework for the mega events and sports tourism industries is developed in line with industry expectations.
