Providence Mount St. Vincent will once again bring dementia care educator Teepa Snow to Seattle to train caregivers how to care for those living with dementia.

Snow will offer three free workshops. All will take place at the Providence Mount St. Vincent Chapel - 3rd floor, 4831 35th Ave SW, Seattle.

These presentations are ideal for professional and family caregivers helping a loved one living with dementia at home or other living situations such as assisted living facilities or nursing homes.

Session one, "The ABCs of dementia and caregiving," will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. No RSVP is needed.

Session two, "Focus on activities: What's cooking and activities and programming for men," will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. RSVP requested for those staying for lunch (small charge, cash or check only).

Session three, "Focus on caregiving tasks and getting the person clean and mouth care," will be held Wednesday June 19, 2013, from 1 to 5 p.m. RSVP requested for those staying for lunch (small charge, cash or check only).

Donations to the Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation to directly assist residents and resident programs are always welcome. RSVP via email only for lunch at either or both Wednesday sessions to Robert Butzerin at Robert.Butzerin@providence.org.

Teepa Snow has worked for more than 30 years in geriatrics, receiving local, statewide and national recognition for her expertise in geriatrics, dementia care and staff training. She has developed two training videos, published many articles, and presents on a variety of topics.

Snow's workshops on caring for those with memory problems help caregivers better understand dementia conditions and the symptoms that accompany them and provide tools and knowledge to help caregivers better interact and communicate with those they care for.
