About the Authors
Karen Joy Fowler is the author of six novels and three short story collections, including "Sarah Canary" and "The Jane Austen Book Club." Her collection, "What I Didn't See," recently won the 2010 World Fantasy Award. She is a co-founder of the James Tiptree Jr Memorial Award and current president of the Clarion Foundation, which exists to support the annual Clarion Writing Workshop at UC San Diego. A new novel, "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves," is scheduled for publication on May 30, 2013.
Dorothy Allison grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, the first child of a fifteen-year-old unwed mother who worked as a waitress. Now living in Northern California with her partner Alix and her teenage son, Wolf Michael, she describes herself as a feminist, a working class story teller, a Southern expatriate, a sometime poet and a happily born-again Californian. She is the author of "Bastard Out of Carolina" (1992)," Cavedweller" (1998), and "Trash" (2002). She has won the Robert Penn Warren Award for Fiction and her work has appeared in both Best American Short Stories and Best New Stories from the South.
