May 5 - Introduction and new HR topics in California HR's biggest problems. Also will review recent California employment laws that impact California employers
May 7 - Vacations, Paid Time Off, Leaves of Absence Discuss employer legal requirements relative to vacations, sick leave, holidays, and paid time off including kin care. Review the new and amended pregnancy regulations. Also review the application and integration of FMLA, CFRA, and PDL leaves of absence and how SDI and PFL wage replacement programs interaction with these mandated leaves
May 12 - Employment Discrimination and Training Requirements Discuss California's FEHA and what it is and who does it cover. Define discrimination, retaliation, expanded protected classes, and other laws prohibiting discrimination. Review new and amended disability regulation and cover aspects of sexual harassment prevention training.
May 14 - Workplace Safety and Workers' Compensation Discuss the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), heat illness protections, and other laws addressing workplace safety. Review workers' compensation, discuss who is covered and who is not what's covered and types of injuries. Review records: Log 300, 300A, 301, DWC-1 and 5020 forms.
May 19 - At-Will Employment, Privacy, and Professional HR Certification Discuss the definition and meaning of at-will employment and termination issues regarding at-will employees. Learn about California's privacy rights and requirements. Learn about Professional HR Certification: PHR, SPHR, PHR-CA, and SPHR-CA. Program wrap-up and Q&A.
