Meet photographer Hodo Lee, Artslant's 2014 Showcase Winner. His works capture subtle relationships between elements in seemingly isolated landscapes. Often desolate, upon closer examination, subtle objects come into view. The intense tonality of the pieces encourage the viewer to enter the image as a meditative space.
Currently based in Manhattan, Lee began his photographic career in Seoul, South Korea. His work was shown in solo shows at several prestigious galleries, including Illum-Leica, Insa Art Center, GS Art Tower as well as honored by the U.S. Forces in Korea with the silver medal for photography.
In 2011, he entered Maryland Institute College of Art where he completed his MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media. The series Indexcape, has been displayed to critical acclaim at the Easton Gallery, Die Botschaft, Gravity, Illum-Leica and the Vorres Gallery.
The works in the current series, Inflections, are a limited edition series of six, optically printed on archival fiber based paper. The images were captured on a Leica M-9 rangefinder and Nikon D800 camera.
