he 5th Annual Sacramento Banana Festival is an exciting two-day festival (Saturday, Aug.9, 10am- 7pm, Sunday, Aug.10, 10am-5pm) that kicks off with a 5k run/walk on Saturday. Enjoy your day filled with fun, food, exciting live entertainment, and exhibits. The event benefits the National Academic Youth Corp., which provides art and educational programs for over 15,000 youth and adults every year right here in Sacramento, as well as over a dozen other worthy local charities. The Festival is located on the Village Green at William Land Park, at the corner of Freeport Boulevard and Sutterville Road. General admission is $5, free for children age 5 and under. Entering 14th Avenue from Freeport Boulevard, parking is available on both sides of the one-way thoroughfares of 15th Street, 18th Street and 19th Street. William Land Park parking rules apply. Handicapped parking is available in designated areas along 19th St. with posted signs. Additional parking is available at Sacramento City College for $1.50.
