The Speakers' Bios:
Graciela Tiscareno-Sato has been enjoying Yosemite National Park for three decades, since first visiting with friends while studying at Berkeley. Today, she enjoys the park as the mother of three Yosemite Junior Rangers, one of them blind. This unique perspective has enabled her entire family to learn to enjoy the park by touch and sound.
Melissa is currently Latino Outdoor's Regional Coordinator for the San Francisco Bay Area where she works to partner with organizations and facilitate outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking and backpacking with families and youth students in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Rena was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. Rena followed her childhood interest in the outdoors to Southern California, where she taught Outdoor Education in San Bernardino National Forest for almost a decade. Rena currently works with Big City Mountaineers in the Bay Area, as the Program Manager for the Outdoor Educators Institute.
Jose G. Gonzalez is an experienced educator with a background and interest in the arts, education, conservation, science, and the environment. He has broad experience as a k-12 public education teacher, environmental education advisor, outdoor education instructor and coordinator, and university adjunct faculty. He is the founder of Latino Outdoors, working to develop a leadership infrastructure and increase Latino community engagement with the Outdoors.
