Info:
PianoFight Music Department plays the brand new Leo's Music Club in Oakland to celebrate the release of their debut EP, Surf. Soul. Party. The goal: a big sweaty dance floor that jumps all night and leaves everyone satisfied. PianoFight Music Department will showcase their high energy, throwback sound alongside dancers and special guest performers. The night features two other bay area bands: California soul pioneers, Midtown Social, and lo-fi indie rockers, Jet Trash.
PFMD = surf soul dance party. Original and throwback, shredded gnar and sultry croon, PianoFight Music Department has been hanging the Bay Area's sonic ten since 2009. The sound: if Aretha Franklin and Dick Dale had a baby, and then Otis Redding kidnapped it, and then that baby grew up to produce an EP titled Surf. Soul. Party. The riptide has pulled PFMD all over the California coastline, but mostly it sweats on the stages of Oakland and San Francisco. Play "Wipe Out" in your car on the way over. Buy a drink. Melt your face and get pregnant faster than if you were the last two humans alive on a spaceship having just passed Mercury headed for the sun.
Midtown Social is redefining the California Soul sound with a no-fail good-time sweet spot you crave. Its mission is to spread positive change through the means of culture, art, and music. By tapping into the past and looking towards the future, Midtown strives to create a present that will support positive transformation through its music and community.
Jet Trash are masters in their field kings in the kingdom of garage and indie lo-fi rock. Melodic and laid back, they produce jams that are impossible to stand still for. Gang vocals layered with easy rhythms and twangy guitar riffs create an almost transcendent, spacey soundscape, all while staying close to their roots of classic garage rock.
