How can the act of making inform our understanding of the consequences of conflict and war? Potter Ehren Tool and papermaker Drew Cameron, each a veteran of the US Armed Services, use their wartime experience to inform their participatory art practices. Tool has made and given away more then 14,500 cups, each graphically confronting war and violence, as a means to initiate meaningful conversations about the experience of conflict. Cameron is co-founder of the Combat Paper Project, a series of workshops in which veterans render the fibers of their service uniforms into paper, reclaiming the material as art expressive of their individual experiences in war. Join Tool and Cameron for a moderated discussion of their work with ACC director of education Perry A. Price.
