Opening Reception August 16th 4-6pm, On display Aug 16-Oct 11
The Reclaimed Room for environmental arts, crafts and media presents HUMAN CHIMERAS, a new show that explores the fantastic elements of the body and mind.
On display is work by Giuliana Pinto and Sam Russell. Pinto repaints headboards with dreamscapes that are thought provoking, mysterious and in the realm of the unconscious mind. Russell plays with the human form and the human face, unlocking its shapes, movements and character, all with a strong sense of masking and abstraction. These artists combine to bring us a show of large ideas in a languid fashion. Expect to feel altered and to enter a space reconfigured for an alternate state of being. Installations and audience engagement will also entice you to stay a while and explore yourself through these works.
The Reclaimed Room is a special project of Building REsources, San Francisco's only space for reclaimed and reused building and landscape materials. This project is their newest endeavor seeking to deepen the relationship between the community, the environment, creative reuse and artistic endeavors. Shows rotate every two months.
