Reception Thursday, Sept 4, 5:30-7:30pm, Exhibit September 2-27, 2014
Sandra Lee Gallery is pleased to present its triennial juried show. The 2014 exhibition, Real and Surreal, will feature 25 works thoughtfully selected by juror Dewitt Cheng, from a collection of over 1000 pieces. The caliber of art and quality of imagination among the submissions were such an inspiration that they required a sequential show. The gallery will be filled with outstanding works in our first group show in September, and an additional 25 pieces in our second group show in October.
Three years ago, we dedicated the triennial show to applicants from the west coast. This year we have expanded the breadth of our search and put out a national call for artists to submit under the theme: Real and Surreal. The theme explores the realm between reality and the inexplicable, and opens up the show to works that inhabit the outer limits of the imagination. Applicants were encouraged to enter any style of work except for photography and video.
Sandra Lee Gallery continually seeks and supports talented artists of innovative persuasions to share with our patrons and art lovers. Following the September show, out of the 50 selected works, the juror will select one first prizewinner and two second prizewinners during the opening reception. Don't miss this rare opportunity to view excellence, celebrate with the winners, and connect with the artists and other art enthusiasts.
DeWitt Cheng is an art writer and critic for Artillery, Art Ltd,VisualArtSource.com and other publications, and is the Curator for Stanford Art Spaces, an exhibition program serving several university venues.
Selected works will be on display starting September 3, 2014, through September 27, 2014.
