Barefoot Chamber Concerts continues its mission to help you start the weekend right. The series ("an enterprise noted for both its quality and informality" - San Francisco Classical Voice) presents really good music in the right acoustic and without the formality of most classical music events. Our concerts start at 6 (or 6:30) on Fridays and last no more than 75 minutes. Kids are very welcome if quiet, and admission under 18 is free. Light refreshments are available before, during, and after the concert. There will be ample time to move on to other evening entertainments.
In what has become an annual tradition, the fabulously unclassifiable Shira Kammen will preside over a preseason concert at the gorgeous Hillside Church in El Cerrito against the backdrop of the sunset. This year her collaborator is the equally fabulous clown/actor Jeff Raz. Together they will perform medieval and traditional tales including "Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnelle."
Shira Kammen tells stories with her strings and bow actor/clown Jeff Raz tells stories with his body and words. Together, they bring the tales to life with their different voices and unique partnership. There will be modes, surprises, and magic.
The program will be approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. The usual light refreshments will be available.
