"Come home to Hillside...You are the Soul" is the theme for Hillside International Truth Center's 43rd Anniversary celebration which will present Gary Zukav, author of "The Seat of the Soul" and Tony and Grammy Award-winning singer/actress/songwriter, Jennifer Holliday, leading "The Soul Journey of a Songstress and Her Song."
The morning "Soul Talk" with Gary Zukav starts at 9:30 a.m. and the afternoon "Soul Session" with Jennifer Holliday starts at 3:00 p.m. One ticket allows admission to both events. Special VIP tickets include premium seating, special parking, lunch with Gary Zukav and a private reception with Jennifer Holliday. Only 43 VIP tickets will be sold.
Gary Zukav appeared on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" more than 35 times. His book, "The Seat of the Soul" was a #1 New York Times Best Seller for 31 weeks and remained on the list for three years. Oprah calls it, "my favorite book of all time except for the Bible."
Two-time Grammy Award winner, Jennifer Holliday, has been proclaimed a Broadway legend by critics and fans alike. Her show-stopping, heart-wrenching performance of the torch ballad "And I am Telling You, I'm Not Going" in the 1981 smash hit, Dreamgirls, is considered one of the all-time best performances in a Broadway musical and the standard to which all other renditions of the song are compared. She won the Tony Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of "Effie" in Dreamgirls. Survival through reinvention has created her new CD, "This Song Is You" (2014, Shanachie Records)
Hillside International is a non-denominational, New Thought center founded by Dr. Barbara L. King in 1971. The 43rd Anniversary celebration starts September 7 with Founder's Day - a "Tribute to Dr. Barbara King" - and continues through September with programs and activities including an Interfaith Service "Jazz on the Hill" and the culminating event on October 4 with Zukav and Holliday.
