The Village Project & Bayview Y Honor San Francisco's Senior Community Friday, October 24
What: The Village Project, in collaboration with the Bayview Y will present 4nd annual, "A Senior Moment", on Friday, October 24, at Westbay Conference Center. Seniors will be recognized for their contributions and dedication to serving their communities. This year's honorees are Cathy Davis, Executive Director of the Bayview/Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services, Alfred Williams, President of San Francisco African American Historical Cultural Society, Mel Simmons, Booker T. Washington Community Center, Shashi Dalal, Western Addition Senior Center and Philip Gerrie, Simply Sandwiches @ St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church. Honorees have all worked diligently to enhance the lives of youth, seniors and the underserved, living in San Francisco. District 5 Supervisor, London Breed will join the celebration and also helped to fund this year's event. After the awards presentations at 7 pm, guests will satisfy their palates with a delectable dinner, followed by some "down home" blues, featuring The Silver Fox Blues Band. DJ, "Mr. C" will spin oldies - but goodies from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's for a night of "getting down". Join us for "A Senior Prom for the 50+" and enjoy some good blues, tantalizing food, dancing, no host bar and plenty of community connectedness.
