The Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra opens its 2014-2015 season under the baton of new Principal Conductor Omid Zoufonoun Sunday, November 2, at 4 pm at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, 1801 Lacassie Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, The program will include Bach/Stokowski: Komm susser Tod (conducted by Michael Morgan) Mozart: Requiem (conducted by Lynne Morrow, Oakland Symphony Chorus Director) Bruch: Violin Concerto No.2 in D minor With Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition winner Jessica Cao Stravinsky: Firebird (1919 version). Tickets are priced $15 and may be purchased at www.oebs.org.
Says new Principal Conductor Omid Zoufonoun, "We are excited to build upon our first 50 years with a great season and some new features like the Young Composer Competition, a large-scale collaboration with the Oakland Symphony Chorus and Lynne Morrow, performances by three of our Concerto Competition winners and a return to our home stages following a successful and rewarding tour to Argentina and Uruguay two summers ago."
