Every Sunday and select school holidays from 1-3pm, families can experience a new adventure in art-making free with admission to The Contemporary Jewish Museum. As always, the hands-on fun inspires children to learn more about the exhibitions on display in the galleries, the building's architecture, or holidays and traditions while experimenting with materials and art techniques.
Sunday, December 7: Picture Book Adventures Step inside the world of picture books. Local author LeUyen Pham reads from her selection of children's books and demonstrates her artistic process. Then get inspired to create your own colorful tales in watercolor, printing, and collage. Add your own characters and ideas to collaborative pop up books and whimsical backgrounds created by local artist Julia Sackett.
Sundays, December 14 & 21: Maker Hanukkah Celebrate the Festival of Lights by creating a lantern inspired sculpture using LED lights and paper. Great as a gift or to place in your window at night.
Friday, December 26 Sunday, December 28 Monday, December 29 Tuesday, December 30: Mr. Lunch Needs a New Canoe In J. Otto Seibold's book Mr. Lunch Borrows a Canoe, Mr. Lunch goes on a long journey in his borrowed canoe. For these winter workshops, make creative canoes out of a variety of materials including clay, wire, recycled plastic, and paper.
