Info:
Join Dr. Robert Brooks, nationally renowned Psychologist and Author (Raising Resilient Children) to learn about the factors that help families achieve greater balance, warmth, and respect. Dr. Brook's presentation will have a special focus on those families who have children and teens with LD/ADHD, although his remarks will be applicable to all families.
He will discuss the importance of:
-Practicing empathy in order to understand and respond effectively to each family member, -Changing negative scripts that contribute to family disharmony, -Establishing realistic expectations and goals -Identifying and reinforcing the "islands of competence" of each child, -Becoming a "charitable" family, and -Disciplining in ways that promote self-discipline rather than resentment.
The event is presented by the Parents Education Network and is appropriate for all parents and educators committed to children.
