A world premiere LINES Ballet collaboration unites Alonzo King with natural soundscape artist Bernie Krause and composer Richard Blackford. For more than forty years, Krauss has traveled the globe with microphones tuned to the earth and its creatures. His vast achive catalogs not individual animals, but the sonic imprint of entire ecosystems - they pulsate, lucent, cradling nature in suspension. This is biophony, an intricate living orchestra. As it permeates the stage, the dancers' habitat is transformed.
The season also welcomes the return of Concerto for Two Violins choreographed to Bach's concerto in D Minor and performed live by the Philharmonia Baroque Chamber Players. Alonzo King's reconception of the iconic score is a sharp salute to ballet's past while making the continued evolution of neoclassicism.
Our Annual Spring Gala is on April 11 and includes a special performance by 'Twenty Feet from Stardom" star, Lisa Fischer. This special evening includes cocktails, dinner and auction as well as the company's collaboration with Bernie Krause and Richard Blackford.
