What hasn't changed in the Mission? Artists are making art here. Come visit these resilient purveyors of creativity.
Open Studios is a rare opportunity to see the artists in their workspaces. It's a viewer driven art tour where you can choose your adventure from many possibilities: experience the art quietly, or stop to talk to the artist, take some art home if it calls to you, spend all day in deep consideration in front of hundreds of diverse works of art, or just hit a few quick studios with your friends after brunch. There is no wrong way to do Open Studios.
From nudes to robots, clay pots to rooftops, you'll find many different subjects inspire the artists in the Mission. You can find artists just beginning their careers, and some who are represented and can't sell their art to you because their paintings are already committed to an international show. You'll see textile artists, pottery, painters, sculptors, jewelers, artists working with found objects, and many other mediums.
There are a lot of ways to support your local art community. Buying from the artist in person is certainly the most direct way. But also, an artist is not an artist without an audience. Without the art being experienced, the work is not complete. Come be a part of the art being created by your local artists in your community. Have fun, be inspired, while also being of service. Without our artists, a community becomes untethered. Help us maintain this vibrant culture of creativity and innovation.
