Spring in West Marin brings wildlife, wildflowers California poppy, paintbrush, lupines, gold fields, monkey flower and the 2015 Spring Point Reyes Open Studios (PROS). Neighbors, visitors, and art lovers are invited to tour artists' studios in the Tomales Bay area about an hour's drive from San Francisco. PROS artists will display their work in their studios and homes during Memorial Day Weekend, from Saturday, May 30 through Monday, June 1, from 11 AM to 5 PM each day. The Point Reyes Open Studios tour invites you to travel the back roads of this scenic rural area known for hiking trails, beaches, restaurants and inns, and its local artists.
Visitors will be able to meet the artists, see new, original work and explore the studios and workshops where the art is created. Hand-built studios, gardens and sweeping views grace many of the venues. Several artists plan demonstrations of their complex crafts, and at least one studio allows visitors to pull their own keepsake prints.
The free, self-guided tour of Point Reyes Open Studios enables visitors to explore the many charming neighborhoods of this sparsely settled region. Visitors can download a map at www.PointReyesArt.com, or pick up a free brochure with map at most retail shops and inns in the area. In addition, PROS signs and posters point the way, making artists' studios easy to find.
