The Visionary Teen Dance Troupe presents their second concert titled "E-Racism" at the Visionary Performance Space (7202 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, 92115) on April 3rd-4th, 2015 @ 7pm.
In this concert the teens take on the controversial topic of racism. Inspired by present-day headlines and tempered by historical events, the entire Teen Dance Troupe collaboratively choreographed the main work of the evening. Watch as the Teen Dance Troupe presents different facets of racism with direction and guidance from Artistic Director Spencer John Powell and Visionary Dance Theatre dancers Ramon Montes and Niki Lemmon.
There will be a guest performance by Helix Charter High School teens, dancing to a work choreographed by Helix Charter High School Dance Director Katie Pipes. The evening will also contain a work choreographed by Sarah Miller (VDT Dancer).
Also included in the evening will be a guest performance by Visionary Dance Theatre, performing the work titled "Progress". Choreographed by Caryn Glass (co-artistic director of [the] movement initiative), this piece was inspired by the era of the civil rights movement.
The Visionary Teen Dance Troupe consists of local community and high school teens with serious intentions surrounding dance. The teens receive professional-level dance education, mentored by the professional members of Visionary Dance Theatre.
Come out and support the talented Visionary Teen Dance Troupe as they tackle racism head-on.
