The Tuolumne River provides water for 2.6 million people in the Bay Area via the Hetch Hetchy Water Delivery System. The River is the lifeblood of our communities and provides world-class recreational opportunities like hiking, kayaking and whitewater rafting. To ensure a sustainable water future in the face of severe drought, action must be taken to improve water use and put sound policies in place to encourage water conservation and recycling. Local non-profit Tuolumne River Trust is answering that call to action.
On the Eve of Earth Day, Tuolumne River Trust volunteer Leah Rogers of Menlo Park will debut her first documentary film about the Tuolumne River, which highlights the hard working nature of the river and the aqueduct that brings the Bay Area pristine High Sierra water from northern Yosemite National Park. The film features interviews of Peter Drekmeier, Policy Director at Tuoulmne River Trust and former mayor of Palo Alto, Dr. Brian Von Herzen of the Climate Foundation, and Dr. Robert Righter, historian, author and professor at Southern Methodist University. Music, art and dance will also be featured during the event.
