The eProgram Series meets in four, 90-minute online sessions from 10:30am - 12:00pm PST. Navigate the maze of California's myriad laws on employee leaves of absence. Develop effective policies and implement a program for complying with all state and federal statutes.
Wednesday, May 6 - Legal & Policy Issues Determine the basic legal and policy issues pertaining to paid time off. Identify the elements of coverage and eligibility requirements for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and determine the impact of FMLA/CFRA on compensation and benefits.
Wednesday, May 13 - Legal Issues (continued) Identify and apply other laws covering employee medical scenarios, including disability accommodations, pregnancy and new child bonding, as well as family medical, military, civic duty and other leaves of absence.
Wednesday, May 20 - LOA Administration Determine the legal and practical requirements for administering leaves of absence, including employee notice, employer notices, medical certifications, and retroactive designations.
Wednesday, May 27 - LOA Administration and Return to Work Determine additional legal and practical requirements for administering leaves of absence, including fitness for duty certifications, job reinstatement periods, and exceptions. Identify and apply return to work obligations and best practices, as well as minimizing the legal risks of retaliation claims.

She advises employers on all aspects of employment law, including designing and auditing time off policies to achieve compliance and employer objectives.
