Every Sunday and select school holidays from 1-3pm, families can experience a new adventure in art-making free with admission to The Contemporary Jewish Museum. As always, the hands-on fun inspires children to learn more about the exhibitions on display in the galleries, the building's architecture, or holidays and traditions while experimenting with materials and art techniques.
Sunday, June 7: Letterpress Day Join artist Kim Vanderheiden of Painted Tongue Press as she demonstrates the art of letterpress printing. Featuring a letterpress on loan from The San Francisco Center for the Book, visitors will be able to try the press and add the printed page to their artwork.
Sundays, June 14 & 21: Book Arts with SF Center for the Book and Painted Tongue Press Collage with make-ready printing sheets and create simple books in this fun series of workshops created in partnership with The San Francisco Center for the Book and Painted Tongue Press.
Sunday, June 28: Artist's Studio with Ascha Drake Join artist Ascha Drake in working with materials that she has on hand in her studio: tape, acrylic, gouache, paper, beeswax, gesso, and charcoal. Layer, incise, conceal, collage, embed, and excavate. Participants will be encouraged to create postcards to mail out on an adventure around the world.
