PROGRAM
"Two if By Sea" - by Kimi Okada Inspired by clandestine physical languages and codes, this rhythmic duet spiced with tap, delightful partnering, and a wink of humor unveils the power of hidden signals. From the glimmer of an SOS signal to the click of Morse code, from a coach's tug of an ear to the lift of lover's eyebrow, we all have our codes.
"Scissors Paper Stone" - by Brenda Way From the energy of three friends to the darker scenario of a love triangle. Originally commissioned by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
"I look vacantly at the Pacific...though regret" - by Kimi Okada Taking its name from a Japanese pencil box, this piece explores the humorous and often awkward attempts at cross-cultural understanding between the East and the West.
