On the 4th of July the biggest party is at the Berkeley Marina from noon-10PM with all kinds of free fun! Adventure Playground, always a favorite, where children can use hammers, nails, saws, and paint with parental supervision, is open until 8PM. Get your face painted, try the giant slide, or splash in the water at the beach. Stay for the fireworks at night!
There's live entertainment from noon until 9:30PM with The Afro Funk Experience Sauce Piquante singer-songwriter, Adrienne Shamszad Lee Waterman & Jazz Caliente and indie band, Mad Noise. Tucked in here and there discover an Afro Cuban Drumming Circle, Benjamin Glasgow on Steel Drums, face painters, balloon twisters and in Shorebird Park spend the afternoon with magicians and clowning on The Buddy Club Stage sponsored by KIND Snacks.
There's yummy food trucks and booths, handmade crafts, free dragon boat rowing from 12-5PM, live pony rides, a petting zoo, and carnival rides near Skates, an inflatable bouncy area, mini-train rides, giant slides, and water bubble balls. More fun at the free photo booth sponsored by Farmer's Insurance all culminates in the grand fireworks over the water from the end of the Berkeley Pier at 9:35PM, presented by the City of Berkeley.
Vehicle parking in the marina is $15 for the day or you can ride your bike over the Berkeley bicycle overpass and use the free valet parking near Adventure Playground sponsored by Mountain High Yoghurt. Take AC Transit #51B from the Downtown Berkeley BART station and into the marina until 6PM. To leave on AC Transit after the fireworks, walk out over the freeway overpass to University and 5th St.
Free admission. Alcohol-free event. Sponsored by the City of Berkeley, The Buddy Club, Farmer's Insurance, Mountain High Yoghurt, KIND Snacks, Yelp, East Bay Express, BETV, and East Bay Loop. Event details at www.AnotherBullwinkelShow.com 510.548.5335.
