August 11: Current Enforcement Landscape Evaluate the current enforcement position of the Labor Commissioner and rulings of the state and federal courts on wage and hour issues. Plus, identify any pending legislation that could alter the rules.
August 18: Best Practices in Managing Employees for Wage and Hour Compliance Take an in-depth look at California's Wage Orders and get techniques for ensuring employee compliance in the areas of wage payments, work hours, overtime, meal and rest breaks, and special pay requirements.
August 25: Employee Classifications and the Evolving Case Law for the Exemptions Develop a solid understanding of exempt classifications, review practical examples of exempt duties, and discuss the current status of the nebulous administrative exemption.
September 1: The Wage and Hour Audit and Strategies for Compliance Discover methods for conducting an audit, the importance of regular review of wage and hour practices, and strategies for correcting any errors.
About the Presenter
Jeanine DeBacker uses her courtroom experience to help employers prevent lawsuits through well-crafted policies, staff training and informal dispute resolution. Jeanine counsels businesses on human resources, employment and employee benefit issues. Her practice focuses on representing employers in all areas of employment and benefits law, including wage and hour claims, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, collective bargaining issues, trade secrets and other employment-related claims. She represents both public and private employers in administrative proceedings, class actions, civil litigation, mediation and arbitrations, and federal and state appeals.
Jeanine is a member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists, counsels clients with regard to their pension and welfare plans.
