Info:
Our writers do great work. Let's thank them. Join us for an evening to celebrate the outstanding work by Art Practical and Daily Serving's contributors.
The evening begins with a VIP Reception in honor of Guillermo Gomez-Pena. A contributor to Art Practical since 2011, Gomez-Pena is director of the performance art troupe La Pocha Nostra and a MacArthur "Genius" Fellow. He has sparked cultural debates for nearly 30 years staging seminal performance art pieces.
Gomez-Pena will perform a special rendition of Imaginary Activism, a brand new spoken word monologue that examines the role of the artist beyond the art world. Seating is limited for the VIP reception and Imaginary Activism.
Then stay as the celebration continues with: Master of Ceremonies Scott Vermeire. Music by La Peche: an ensemble of young Bay Area musicians who come together to create an intoxicating blend of East European folkloric traditions and jazz & improvised performance. Dance performance by Brontez Purnell. Performance by Dia Dear. Acrobatics by Marina Mendoza and Steven Delany.
All proceeds from Synergy go directly to funding our writers, who reflect the creative, independent, and vital spirit of the communities they represent. Join us for this event to honor of the outstanding work they do!
