Opening event: September 3rd, Thursday 5:30-7:30pm Exhibition: Wednesday September 2nd through Sunday September 27th, 2015
Restraint & Revolution, a vibrant portrait collection by the Academy of Art's evocative realist painter, Adare, explores the last taboos of the 21st century. Examining the social revolutions of culture, gender, body image, disability and love, Adare's works delve into America's dynamic underground. Donned in corsetry, a once prude garment turned into scandalous lingerie, each of Adare's inspiring models tells a fascinating life-story challenging social norms.
Exhibiting nine select pieces from Restraint & Revolution, the Academy of Art University is proud to present Adare's international tour at The Cannery, 2801 Leavenworth Street, San Francisco. Doors to this prestigious event will be open between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 3rd, 2015.
Pushing the boundaries of classical and contemporary art by uniting traditional mediums with wild diversity, nine of Adare's thirty-three portraits will illuminate the Cannery for the month of September, presenting such inspirational icons as:
Choreographer & Stanford's Artistic Director of Black Performing Arts, Robert Moses. Body-Mod & Tattoo Artist, Robert Bennett Gothic Belly Dancer, Ariellah Darker-Still Sister of Perpetual Indulgence, Sister Eve Volution Burlesque icon, Juju Minxxx Fire Dancing LGBT therapist, Alex Stitt Whirling Dervish and founder of Velocity Circus, Gregangelo.
