WomenSing, named Diablo Magazine's 2015's Best Music Ensemble, presents A Grand Celebration Gala, a festive event to celebrate WomenSing's 50th Season. Join us at this elegant event and enjoy scrumptious food, fabulous wine, and an exciting auction to benefit WomenSing and its artistic and outreach programs. Topping the afternoon is a concert of beautiful music featuring guest artists Karen Anderson, soprano, Jessica Deardorff Elder, mezzo-soprano, and Paul Caccamo, pianist.
Award-winning American lyric-spinto soprano Karen Anderson has performed in a variety of roles and venues, including the title role of Turandot with the Lancaster Music Festival in a live National Public Radio broadcast, and with Cincinnati Opera in the role of Kitty Hart in Dead Man Walking. On the concert stage, she has performed Mendelssohn's Elijah in Israel with the Jerusalem Symphony, and as a guest soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on a live televised broadcast.
Jessica Deardorff Elder's awards include top prize in the Henry and Maria Holt Memorial Scholarship competition, and finalist and winner in the Western and Pacific Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has appeared with the Livermore Valley Opera, the Festival Opera, Opera San Jose, and Townsend Opera. Ms. Deardorff recently performed as the contralto soloist in Vaughan William's Magnificat with the SF Girls Chorus at Davies Symphony Hall.
Pianist Paul Caccamo, WomenSing's Associate Music Director, is an uncommonly versatile performer, leading an active career in the Bay Area as accompanist, vocal coach, chamber musician, conductor, orchestral pianist and recording artist. Over the past 20 years, Paul has played on stages all over the world as a solo and collaborative pianist, presenting recitals with singers and instrumentalists of every kind, including the San Francisco Girls Chorus, Festival Opera, West Bay Opera, Open Opera, and Oakland Opera Theater.
