Adding a pan-American perspective to SONiC Festival, Onix Ensamble, an acclaimed group of musicians from Mexico, is dedicated to building bridges and new forms of musical expression. The virtuosic program features young composers from Mexico and the U.S.: Victor Ibarra, Travis Alford, Charles Halka, Francisco Cortes-Alvarez, Juan Pablo Contreras, and Armando Luna.
Onix Ensamble, one of Mexico's leading new music groups, is widely recognized for their virtuosity and innovative musical interpretations. Led by flutist Alejandro Escuer and including clarinetist Fernando Dominguez, cellist Edgardo Espinosa, violinist Abel Romero, and pianist Edith Ruiz, Onix Ensamble's repertoire spans a wide spectrum, ranging from the most recent trends in new music to classics of the 20th century.
