Gravity celebrates 15 years of groundbreaking interdisciplinary performance in San Francisco with its sixth biennial presentation of the work of director and choreographer Jess Curtis and his collaborators from around the world. From Glasgow, Montpelier and Berlin to San Francisco, revisit sparkling excerpts from Gravity's history including Performance Research Experiment #1 and French-German juggler and dancer Jorg Muller's dazzling mobile. Rounding out the evening will be preview excerpts from a major new duet with Scottish self-identified disabled artist Claire Cunningham and Curtis scheduled to premiere in fall 2016.
Widely recognized as a leading figure in the performance of experimental, body-�based art, Curtis has earned numerous accolades for his international collaborations. Among the distinguished artists and companies who have made their U.S. debut under the umbrella of Jess Curtis/Gravity's Intercontinental Collaborations are Ulrike Bodammer, Croi Glan Integrated Dance Company, Fabrik Company, Kaz Langley, Maria Francesca Scaroni, as well as Cunningham and Muller. Other celebrated artists who have appeared in Intercontinental Collaborations are Angus Balbernie and Silke Z.
