In this holiday season of gift-giving, WomenSing presents Make Good Cheer, the first concert of our 50th season. This concert celebrates the gift of choral music-the gift singers offer their audience, and the gift the audience returns to the singers. We will begin with Benjamin Britten's beloved A Ceremony of the Carols, and continue with music we have performed through the course of WomenSing's fifty years, including Pablo Casals' Nigra Sum and Hanget Soi (Singing Snow), by Finnish composer Heikki Sarmanto.
A highlight of the concert will be former Youth Inspiring Youth composer Dale Trumbore's Ave Generosa. This world premiere piece for women's voices and harp is based on the words of Hildegard von Bingen, one of five women we have chosen to honor in our 50th year for their contribution in the various arts. In keeping with our celebration of 50 years of community in song, our artistic director has created a wonderful arrangement of In the Bleak Midwinter, to be sung by current singers and alumnae. The concert will also feature beloved carols as we present our signature blend of traditional and the unexpected in women's choral music.
Advance tickets are available up to 24 hours prior to each concert online. Tickets will also be available at the door.
