Announcing a special music and dance performance to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Bay Area Brazilian Arts Organization BrasArte, and the work of its founder, dancer, educator and choreographer Conceicao Damasceno.
Damasceno has been teaching, choreographing and creating dance performance work in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1987. In 2000 she founded BrasArte, an organization dedicated to the preservation of traditional Afro Brazilian Culture and to facilitate cultural exchange between Brazil and the USA.
For 15 years BrasArte has provided excellent education in Afro Brazilian music and dance through classes, workshops, summer camps, performances and festivals. This special anniversary celebration will feature Dandara Odara and the Pragandia Band, John Santos, Ana Laidley and her Malandros, Luiz Badaro, Cheo Rojas and the Damasceno Dance Company.
