San Jose Chamber Players present string duos, trios and quartets, featuring faculty members from Santa Clara University. Enjoy music from the Baroque to the 20th century, including Handel, Schubert, Mozart, Gershwin and others.
The program features Claudia Bloom, Ryo Fukuda, Ann Coombs-Kenney and Peter Gelfand. They have been part of the professional music scene for a combined total of over 120 years.
Cellist Peter Gelfand is a teacher and Arts Advocate with experience in the classical and commercial music industry. He has been involved in numerous film and television scoring sessions and audio recordings and teaches at San Jose State University and Santa Clara University.
Violinist Claudia Bloom earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music and her Master of Music degree at the Yale School of Music. Along with her twin sister Madeline and brother Jonathan, she is a member of the Bloom Duo and Trio. Ms. Bloom plays principal second violin in Opera San Jose, is part of the Grace Note Chamber Players and teaches privately.
Violinist Ryo Fukuda received his musical training at the Manhattan School of Music. On the String Faculty at Santa Clara University, he teaches privately and coaches several youth orchestras.
Mr. Fukuda has performed in the violin sections of a number of symphonies, including Symphony Silicon Valley and Opera San Jose. He has been on the faculty of the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp for 10 years.
Violist Ann Coombs-Kenney has served as violist and principal violist for many orchestras in California, including The Marin Symphony, San Jose Chamber Orchestra and The Midsummer Mozart Music Festival Orchestra.
She earned her Bachelors of Music at Western University in Ontario, Canada and her Masters of Music at the University of Iowa. She is on the faculty at Santa Clara University and teaches privately.
