"Highly experimental and consistently refreshing."- SF Weekly
Manifesting (World Premiere) An antic dance theater work inspired by artist manifestos. How do we use rules to channel our animal nature? How do manifestos both mask and expose us? "Manifesting" builds on Hope Mohr's long-standing investigation of inherited models as a means to articulate artistic voice.
Stay (2015) Mohr's acclaimed response to Francis Bacon's commitment to subverting narrative in his creative process through the use of "free marks" throwing paint and other improvisational procedures designed to bring chaos into an otherwise carefully composed canvas. Rather than recreate Bacon's imagery, "Stay" echoes the impact of a Bacon painting: visceral punch, emotional disturbance.
