This June, Mission CTRL, is proud to present Duck Lake, a blood-and-guts-soaked full length show. This ballet-horror-comedy (think Wet Hot American Summer meets The Birds meets Black Swan) tells the story of a fledgling theater company on a creative retreat at the idyllic campsite Duck Lake, where they are workshopping a musical theater adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The production is hampered by an overzealous director, prima donna lead actor, and incessant interruptions from rogue jet skiers. And then the mysterious duck attacks begin.
Duck Lake was previously staged to great acclaim in July 2012, selling out eight consecutive performances. SF Weekly wrote that "Duck Lake is the kind of funny that leaves your face sore from smiling" and Mission Mission called it "Sexy and brutal carnage." Duck Lake runs June 9 through 18, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm on PianoFight's beautiful Main Stage. Advanced General Admission is $20 ($25 at the door, $15 for groups of 4 or more). More info can be found at www.duck-lake.com .
Mission CTRL traces its roots to the early 2000's when its founding members started sketching together at UC Berkeley, and in 2008 they joined up with PianoFight. They have been featured in SF Sketchfest, SF Improv Fest, LA Sketchfest, and played venues all over California. They have been called "SF sketch Legends" (TheLAist.com) and praised as "seriously funny shit" (7x7 Magazine). The examiner wrote of them, "Mission CTRL ranks with the best of sketch comedy troupes: think Second City and early SNL. These guys can hold their own as writers and performers. They are sure to be more than a footnote in the comic history of San Francisco-they will be around for a long time. Trust me, you should catch their act now so you can say, "I saw 'em when...."."
