This is the 32nd Anniversary Celebration of Badarikashrama's service to the community. Saturday the 18th is a full day cultural program with South Indian Music by Shanti Sriram and students, and North Indian Music by Anupama Chandratreya and students, with expressive, and beautiful Odissi dance by Jyoti Rout, and Sima Chakraborty and students. A spiritual discussion will be given by Swami Vedanandaji from the Vedanta Society,San Francisco. Lunch and Snacks will be served. The next day, Sunday, the 19th starting at 10:30 am a special worship service will be conducted by Swami Omkarananda, visiting from India, for the health, happiness, peace, and prosperity of all participants and the planet earth. This is an ancient worship from India followed by most Hindus to pray for peace and happiness. Lunch will be served following the worship. All are welcome. Both days are free.
Shanthi Shriram hails from a musical family. She started her training under the guidance of her mother, Guru Smt. Lakshmi Sundaram. She had the privilege of being trained on performance techniques by the violin maestro,the late Sri Lalgudi G.Jayaraman. She is the Founder and Director of Nadalaya School of Music, a prestigious music school that imparts excellence through voice training techniques.
Anupama Chandratreya hails from a very rich Hindustani music tradition. She was groomed by her mother, Dr. Jyoti Dhamdhere at a very young age. She has a Master's Degree in Classical music. She then received training under the guidance of Ustad Mohammad Hussain Khan and further learned from T.D. Janorikar, both of Bhendi Bazar Gharana. Anupama has released her maiden Ghazal CD "Saugat" to her credit. Anupama has sung in many musical events and delighted audiences in India, USA and Canada, for over 20 years. She is the Founder and Director of Saptak Music School whose mission is to preserve, develop and propagate Indian classical and traditional music.
