"Smash hit" - SF Weekly "A classic" - SF Bay Guardian "Theater I'm excited about" - SF Chronicle
The smash hit comedy FORKING!, a fully-scripted comedy about sex and love in the 90's in which the audience votes on how the plot will proceed, will return to San Francisco this August. This time around FORKING!, the original choose-your-own-ending play that toured California and spawned the holiday classic A Merry FORKING! Christmas, is staged by Rem Myers in the new home of PianoFight, the company that premiered it in 2009. The play runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at various times (full schedule below) August 4 through 19 at PianoFight, 144 Taylor St in San Francisco. Tickets are $10 - $20 online at www.pianofight.com.
In FORKING!, the audience actively participates by voting. Six 20-to-30-somethings who live together in San Francisco are thrust into or out of the sack with other characters, depending on how the audience votes. Each potential "fork" is scripted, and the sum of each audience vote will determine the outcome of the play. The SF Bay Guardian wrote, "Playing out like a cross between American Idol and The Real World, this is theater by and for the reality-show generation."
The story centers around Chastity, a wedding photographer with a bad knee and no health care, and Joshua, a Canadian who will lose his job if he can't get his visa renewed. After a night of heavy drinking, the two decide that the best way to solve both their problems is to get married giving Chastity health coverage and Joshua American citizenship. One problem: Will the audience get them to their joyous day?
The cast features Francisco Arcila, Jake Arky, Kimberley Cohan, Sam DiSalvo, Caitlin Evenson, Sean Garahan, Kitty Torres, and Peter Warden.
