Join us in celebrating the release of 'Dear Data' by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec. The event will feature a conversation between the authors and Maria Popova (Brain Pickings).
After only meeting twice, designers Giorgia Lupi (an Italian living in New York) and Stefanie Posavec (an American living in London) decided to embark on a year long project in an effort to get to know one another better. The result is 'Dear Data.' The book reproduces their transatlantic exchange through their weekly postcards. A combination of mail art and data visualization, through their weekly correspondence the two women shared various facets of lives from how many times they complained to how many times they laughed a week. Taking an analog approach to communication in a digital world, 'Dear Data' asks readers to take a look at even the most mundane moments of their everyday life because data, as the duo states, "is the beginning of a story, not the end, and should be seen as the starting point for questioning and understanding the world around us instead of seeing it as the definitive answer to all of our questions."
