San Francisco Performances' popular Wednesday night Salon concerts spotlight fabulous talent in the casual and intimate setting of the Hotel Rex located at 562 Sutter Street. Reminiscent of the arts and literary salons of 1930s San Francisco when artists performed in intimate spaces for a small group of friends, the Salon Series artists talk about the music they perform, sharing insights into how programs are developed and how their careers are formed. Audiences learn about music in a convivial atmosphere where questions and discussion are encouraged. These informal, after-work events last just one hour and drinks can be purchased in the hotel bar and enjoyed during the concert. All concerts take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday nights.
Jennifer Kloetzel, the acclaimed cellist of the beloved Cypress Quartet opens the Salon season with a program of her favorite music for her instrument. Our musical conversation with this engaging chamber musician will feature sonatas by Rachmaninov and Beethoven. She will be accompanied by Robert Koenig on piano.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and a Fulbright Scholar, cellist Jennifer Kloetzel has concertized throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. A founding member of the Cypress String Quartet, Ms. Kloetzel has toured the world and performed at outstanding venues such as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, the Chautauqua Institute and the Ravinia Festival, the Lobkowicz Palaces in both Vienna and Prague, as well as prominent colleges and conservatories nationwide.
Ms. Kloetzel is noted for her elegant playing and her vibrant tone. She has given numerous recitals, including concerts for San Francisco Performances and on WQXR in New York.
