Barbara Yahr, conductor Imri Talgam, piano Prokofiev selections from Romeo & Juliet Prokofiev Lieutenant Kije Suite Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2
The Greenwich Village Orchestra spotlights Prokofiev's storytelling genius with passionate, dramatic music from his ballet Romeo & Juliet contrasting with the witty, brass-powered Lieutenant Kije Suite. The beloved melodies of Rachmaninoff's lush Second Piano Concerto, featuring Imri Talgam, winner of the 11th International Piano Competition of Orleans, also offers plenty of romantic drama. Music Director Barbara Yahr conducts. Reception with the musicians after the concert.
A versatile performer of both contemporary as well as traditional repertoire, Imri Talgam's recent appearances include venues such as Theatre des Bouffes du Nord, Salle Pleyel, KKL Lucerne, Alice Tully Hall and Kiev's Ukraine Palace.
Talgam is the first prize winner of the 11th Concours International de Piano d'Orleans, as well as the Denisov prize and the Claude Helffer prize. His playing has been featured in broadcasts by the Israeli radio company and the Deutchlandfunk Cologne. He has collaborated with the Ensemble Modern, the Israeli Contemporary players, the Novus ensemble and the Croatian Radio-Television orchestra among others.
