To celebrate our book release with our friends, family, and community, we will have books and prints for sale, merchandise for raffle, food and drinks, and great music.
Dating Between the Lines is a self-published, illustrated dating book of humor and human insight. There will be two book launch events following the official release on Wednesday December 7, 2016.
Dating Between the Lines is a book of illustrated pick-up lines and quotes from lovely, everyday folks, containing their insights on love and life. We created this book to be a source of comic relief for folks (ourselves included!) during those times that dating and relationships feel like a murky sea of confusion and self doubt. We want you to have a space to think deeply about this dating stuff, while keeping a sense of humor. The illustrations will make you laugh, and the dating wisdom will lift your heart.
Dating Between the Lines is self-published under the imprint It's A Group Effort edited by Emma Craig and illustrated by Puja Tolton. Both East Coast transplants living in Oakland, CA, Emma is a queer writer and feminist, and Puja is an illustrator, zine-maker and actor. Dating Between the Lines is their first collaboration and first published book.
This book is proudly community created. The pick-up lines are from brainstorming sessions with friends, and the quotes are from interviews with people in our extended networks. Many illustrations feature local businesses of Oakland, our home base. We are largely funded by the generosity of our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign.
Dating Between the Lines will also be hosting a Book Launch Bar Hop on Saturday Dec 17, 2016 8-11pm starting at Spice Monkey Restaurant & Bar. The Event will stop at all bars featured in the book.
