Info:
Bridging the Gap, created by National Sawdust Curator Robert Sirota, is a series of concerts of chamber, choral, and solo compositions that explore the student/teacher and mentor/mentee relationships between generations of composers.
The second concert in the series features two student/teacher pairings from the Yale School of Music. Martin Bresnick, praised for "music that seems at once ancient, elegiac and awesomely new" by The New York Times, is paired with former student and award-winning composer Balint Karosi. Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis is paired with his former student Michael Gilbertson, whose works have been described as "genuinely moving" by The Washington Post.
A pre-concert discussion with the composers will be held at 3:15pm.
