In eager anticipation of an exciting collaboration next season, when Volti will join ODC/Dance in fully staged performances of British composer Joby Talbot's "Path of Miracles," the Bay Area's premier contemporary music vocal ensemble sings the first movement of that piece in concert on March 3 in Berkeley and March 4 in San Francisco. "Path of Miracles" is an absolutely gorgeous evening-length depiction of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across Spain.
The spiritual theme continues with the otherworldly soundscape of Gyorgy Ligeti's "Lux Aeterna," familiar to many from its use in Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also on the program are ibuokle Martinaityte's "The Blue of Distance" and Ingrid Stolzel's "Into Being." Finally, you'll hear the world premiere of Berkeley composer Robin Estrada's "Caeli Enerrant," a plea in these troubled times to "do to others as you would have them do to you." Robert Geary conducts.
