Info:
PIVOT presents the reverent-irreverent program of pianist/vocalist Gabriel Kahane's evocatively titled Craigslistlieder, Dichterliebe and Other Arguments. Over the last decade, Kahane has quietly established himself as one of the leading exponents of American song. A devoted follower of the German Romantic song tradition, he'll draw connections between the art song cycle ("lieder") of the nineteenth century to the singer-songwriter tradition of contemporary American pop music by performing Robert Schumann's classic song cycle Dichterliebe (Poet's Love, set to the poetry of Heine) alongside his own cult song cycle Craigslistlieder-seven songs set to classified Craigslist ads-and songs from his albums The Ambassador and Where are the Arms.
The program will be 75 minutes long, with one intermission.
