Sir Andras Schiff returns to his beloved San Francisco with Schubert's most lyrical and haunting works, in what can aptly be described as a song recital without words. Schiff's keyboard eloquence is well-known to Bay Area audiences, who have packed his immersive explorations of single composers' works for many years.
His latest disc with ECM Records released in April 2015 features the late piano works of Franz Schubert recorded on a 1820 Viennese fortepiano made by Franz Brodmann and was recently awarded the International Classical Music Award for best "Solo Instrumental Recording of the Year". This is the second time Andras Schiff has received this award. The first was in 2012 for his recording "Geistervariationen" with works by Robert Schumann (ECM). In June 2014 he was bestowed a Knighthood for services to Music in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
He performs an ALL-SCHUBERT PROGRAM: Sonata in A minor, D.845 Four Improm?ptus, D.935 Drei Klavierstucke, D.946 Sonata in G Major, D.894
