Master magician and mentalist Jay Alexander materializes at Pleasanton's Firehouse Arts Center with his latest show, "Mind Tricks," for one show only on Sunday, April 2, at 2:00 p.m.
Alexander is a familiar face from appearances on the Today Show, MTV, Good Morning America, and his popular TEDx Talks. His celebrity fan-base includes U2's Bono, Monty Python's John Cleese, singer-songwriter David Crosby, and Rolling Stones' Ron Wood, to name just a few. (Wow!)
Known as a triple-threat entertainer, Jay's comedy, sleight-of-hand, and "Human Lie Detection" are all top-of-the-game. Alexander notes that one of his most popular challenges to audiences is "Can you lie to Jay?"
Jay Alexander comes by his fascination with magic, comedy, and performing live partly through his family tree: he is the great grandson of the legendary vaudeville performer, Gentleman Ben Darwin. Jay says that as a young child he discovered a trunk in his grandparent's attic that was filled with magical apparatus and escape illusions. And the rest, as they say...
At the age of fourteen, Jay was honored as the youngest recipient of the Gold Medal of Honor, awarded by The Society of American Magicians. Now, with over 25 years of professional magic-making under his belt, Jay is still freshly passionate about creating unique live entertainment by mystifying audiences with "miraculous" effects of the mind and the hands, and lighting the room up with his humor.
